Bronze Vessels
In China, the ancient bronze vessels were quite popular from the late Neolithic period to the Qin and Han Dynasty. The most exquisite artifacts were produced in Shang and Zhou Dynastiy. Initially there were small tools or accessories. From Xia Dynasty, people began to make bronze containers and weapons. As time goes by, bronze vessels are of rich varieties, with inscriptions and fine patterns. They were mainly used as vessels like Ding, and musical instruments known as bells. From the use of Bronze vessels, the casting technique, the plastic arts and varieties, hardly any bronze vessels in other places of the world can be compared with those in ancient China. This is also why the ancient Chinese bronzes has occupied a unique position in the world’s art history and drawn much attention from the world.
